The problem of waste is an issue that is still an unresolved topic of discussion today. Plastic waste is still considered very dangerous for land, ocean and even air ecosystems.
But it is not only plastic waste, there is also other forms of inorganic waste that cannot be decomposed which can disrupt the environmental ecosystem, and, whether you realize it or not, it turns out that the biggest contributor to plastic waste comes from the restaurant business.
Usually, the waste comes from leftover food that has been not been sold, leftover food from guests which has not been eaten, and other restaurant materials such as plastic straws, plastic bottles, Styrofoam and plastic containers, and the wrapping in which some many of the supplies are delivered in.
However, as time goes by, many restaurants or cafes have now started to become aware of protecting the environment. So now there are some restaurants and cafes that are built with an eco-friendly concept. The concept starts from the aspect of managing waste, but also using recycled items for the interiors of the venue and other great ideas.
Here are some restaurants or cafes we have selected because they have an eco-friendly concept:
1. Burgreens
Burgreens is a vegetarian burger restaurant that serves burgers in a healthier format. Apart from that, Burgreens also has a commitment to reducing their commercial waste produced every day.
To reduce food waste, they always use all parts of the raw materials for cooking. Like sweet potatoes which are processed into chips and then the rest of the potato is processed into dessert.
Apart from its restaurant menu which has a vegetarian concept, Burgreens also uses more environmentally friendly packaging such as banana leaves to package food, bamboo straws and environmentally friendly packaging made from cassava for take away.
